Display
In range now β aircraft currently shown on the map (everything within your viewport).
Visible in cone β aircraft that are within the visibility cone. Each such aircraft has a green dashed circle around it showing how far it can be seen at its current altitude: higher aircraft have wider circles. If the observer (pulsing blue dot) is inside that circle, the aircraft is visible. Cones are only drawn for aircraft that are visible now or heading toward you β aircraft flying away are hidden to reduce clutter. Green-glowing markers confirm visibility.
Aircraft Colors
Blue β low altitude (0β5,000 ft)
Green β medium (5,000β15,000 ft)
Amber β high (15,000β30,000 ft)
Red β very high (30,000β45,000 ft)
Magenta β extreme (45,000+ ft)
Grey β unknown / on ground
Visible aircraft get a green glow around their icon.
Buttons
Share my location β requests browser geolocation permission to detect your position. Re-click to update if you move.
Recenter Observer β centers the map on your current observer position.
Fit All Aircraft β zooms the map to show all currently detected aircraft.
π§ Compass β rotates the map to match your device's heading (mobile only). Uses the compass sensor via DeviceOrientation API. On iOS, you'll be prompted to allow motion access. The compass rose in the top-right corner shows true north. Tap again to reset to north-up.
ICAO24 links β clicking an ICAO24 code opens the live track on ADSBExchange in a new tab.
Polling
The dashboard polls OpenSky for fresh ADSβB data every 30 seconds. Between polls, each aircraft marker is dead-reckoned once per second using its last known heading and speed, so positions stay fluid. Only while this tab is visible β switching tabs pauses everything.
